Has anyone ever said to you, “Trust me, I’ve got your back”? While that is a nice sentiment, it’s only as powerful as the person who says it. It makes a huge difference whether it comes from a billionaire or bankrupt person, a professional bodyguard or a precocious toddler.
Romans 8:31 tells us that God is the one who ultimately has our back, “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” Yet, if we never consider who God is, then we will struggle to appreciate the implications for our lives. So, let’s consider a few things about God today:
God is all-mighty! His power is boundless, and there is no force, no person, no being, no circumstance that can challenge His authority. Nothing is beyond His ability or control. We can trust God is in control even when our lives seem chaotic or out of control. We can surrender our worries and fears to Him and trust in His power.
God is all-knowing! Nothing escapes His attention or understanding. No event surprises Him, and no detail is hidden from His sight. We can rest in the knowledge that God knows and understands our struggles, fears, and worries. Even when things seem uncertain for us, they are crystal clear to Him. If we give Him our concerns, then He will give us peace that surpasses understanding.
God is all-wise! His wisdom is perfect and complete. He possesses insights that infinitely surpass our understanding, and His decisions are flawless. He never makes a mistake. We can yield to God’s wisdom, trusting that His perspective and plans are infinitely better than ours. His wisdom guides us even when we can't see the path ahead.
God is perfectly loving! The extent of God’s love was demonstrated by giving us His Son to die for us. There is no good thing He withholds in His unconditional love. this assures us that His power is wielded for our benefit, His knowledge takes into account our greatest fears and weaknesses, and His wisdom directs us toward paths that lead to what is ultimately good.
God is unchanging! His character remains consistent and unwavering throughout eternity. He is a constant anchor amidst the changes and challenges of life. Our trust in Him is not based on fickle feelings but on the firm foundation of who He is.
Grasping who God is deepens our relationship with Him. His all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-wise nature, coupled with His unconditional love and unchanging character, should inspire us to entrust our lives to His care.
So take a deep breath and rest assured, God’s got your back!
