What’s the right way?

This is what the Lord says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’ – Jeremiah 6:16

Have you noticed how dependent most of us have become on our devices to give us directions? We put in an address and then blindly trust that the tech will faithfully guide us in the right way. We’ve become so used to relying on them that we feel lost and anxious if we forget them or the battery dies. In fact, most people wouldn’t even think of going somewhere new without having their phone with them to give them directions.

In John 14:6, Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” The only way to end up in an eternal relationship with God as our Father is through Jesus. We need Him to show us the right way to navigate through life.  Just like we trust GPS to guide us as we navigate the roads, we need to trust Jesus to guide us as we navigate this journey called life. In fact, we should want to be even more reliant on Jesus for guidance because the destination isn’t just a store or restaurant – it’s eternal life.

Just like forgetting our phone can cause us to feel uneasy about navigating unfamiliar territory, forgetting to check in with Jesus daily should make us feel uneasy about the direction of our life. And we should never even think about embarking on a major new direction without getting clear direction from Him first. When was the last time you stood at the crossroads of your life and asked Jesus to show you the good way?

Let’s get into the habit of checking in with Jesus about where He wants us to go each day.
