Finding the Word

Hilkiah the priest found the Book of the Law of the Lord that had been given through Moses. – 2 Chronicles 34:14

During the reign of Josiah, Hilkiah the priest discovered something that had been lost for a long time – The Book of the Law. He found it as he was cleaning out years of clutter from the temple. You see, the previous generation had prioritized other things above God. This caused them to stop valuing His Word and as a result they placed it out of sight and out of mind until it was eventually lost altogether. But, once it was rediscovered, it again brought a sweet conviction, heartfelt repentance and a personal revival in Josiah’s life that rippled out to the whole nation.

Sometimes we can also make the mistake of prioritizing things above God. When we do it can cause us to stop valuing His Word as much. As a result, the Bible get pushed out of sight and out of mind until it eventually gets buried under the busyness of life. This causes us to lose sight of Jesus altogether. When that happens, we need to rediscover Jesus in a fresh way. John 1:14 tells us, “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”

If you’ve lost sight of Jesus in your life, take a moment and ask God to help you rediscover Him this week and may it bring a fresh revival to your heart.
