“For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven… Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. “ – Ecclesiastes 3:1 & 11
God is at work in every circumstance and He has something beautiful for us in every season. Yet so many people I talk with are longing for what isn’t instead of embracing what is. They fall into the trap of thinking that a different season will be better or easier than the current one. As a result they miss the beauty of what God is doing right now.
I think that’s because we have a very narrow view of what beauty truly is. We tend to think that only things that are easy, pleasant or enjoyable are beautiful. So we lose sight of the beauty in sleepless nights with a newborn. We fail to recognize the beauty of years of faithfulness in a difficult marriage. We discount the beauty of desperate reliance on God when finances are tight.
Romans 8:28 tells us that “God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose.” Wisdom understands that God is always working and that His work is always good. Even the hard, unpleasant and challenging parts of life have something beautiful woven through them.
Are you seeing the beauty of this season? If not, ask God to help you see His handiwork in your life right now?
