Shake Up Your Prayer Life

Psalm 2 is one of the most incredible Psalms about Jesus and I encourage you to take the time to read it right now. It’s such a powerful psalm that Peter and John actually incorporated it into their prayers after being arrested for healing a lame man in Jesus’ name. They realized that Psalm 2:1-2 described what had happened to Jesus. They also understood that they were living in the reality of scripture. Here is a portion of what they prayed…

The believers lifted their voices together in prayer to God: “O Sovereign Lord, Creator of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them—You spoke long ago by the Holy Spirit through our ancestor David, your servant, saying, ‘Why were the nations so angry? Why did they waste their time with futile plans? The kings of the earth prepared for battle; the rulers gathered together against the Lord and against his Messiah.’… Oh Lord, hear their threats and give us, your servants, great boldness in preaching your word.” – Acts 4:24-26 & 29

After this prayer, the meeting place shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Then they went out and preached the word of God with boldness. I love that the outcome of praying scripture was that it shook the place that they were meeting! What we need is more prayer that shakes things up!

Do you want to shake up your prayer life? Try praying one of the psalms today as if it were your words. Let the scripture shape your conversation with God and see what happens!
