“Praise be to the Lord, who this day has not left you without a redeemer… He will renew your life and sustain you in your old age. For your daughter-in-law, who loves you and who is better to you than seven sons, has given him birth.” – Ruth 4:14-15
God’s grace came full circle in Naomi’s life. When we first met her she had drifted from the Promised Land in search of pagan potential in the land of Moab. Instead of finding the fullness she was looking for she ended up losing everything important. As a result she returned to Israel bitter and bankrupt.
But God in His grace provided something profoundly better along the way – a daughter-in-law whose love was better than seven sons. Ruth stuck by Naomi through thick and thin and showed her God’s unconditional love. That love and loyalty won the heart of their kinsman-redeemer, ended up restoring their family and gave birth to a legacy of redemption that would eventually usher in the Savior of the World – Jesus!
In a similar way, when we let God’s love shine through us like Ruth did, it ushers Jesus into people’s lives. It can bring salvation, redemption and restoration to those who need it most.
Who is someone in your life currently that God might be calling you to love with His unconditional love?
