Notice that the devil’s temptations always try to get us to see things from a self-centered perspective instead of a God-centered one. Jesus successfully overcomes temptation by going back to God’s perspective. Not only did Jesus know scripture, He defiantly declared the truth of scripture in the face of temptation.
